PCC’s Board Meetings

Persian Cultural Center’s board of directors holds its meetings virtually, via Zoom. The last two meetings took place on January 8 and February 12, 2025.

A Poet and A Poem – January 15, 2025

The 36th session of “A Poet and A Poem” took place on January 15. This virtual session featured the biography and poems of Alamtaj Ghaem Maghami (Zhaleh) and was presented by members of the Poetry and Literature group of San Diego—Farshad Babakhani, Fariba Babakhani, and Sepideh Shamloufard—along with young students from ISSD.

5 Women Art Expo – January 25, 2025, to February 23, 2025

On the evening of Saturday, January 25, art enthusiasts gathered at the Iranian American Center for the opening of an exhibition featuring five talented female artists from Iran and Afghanistan. The exhibition showcased a selection of works by Ms. Simin Chakhamian, Hasti Noroozi, Negar Nekoui, Niloufar Rashidi, and Farideh Hanifi. This was a unique opportunity for art lovers in San Diego to become acquainted with the works of these local artists. Admission to the exhibition was free for the public. The exhibition continued until February 23.

Film and Discussion – January 31, 2025

The Film and Discussion group dedicated its first program in 2025 to engage in conversation with Mr. Aziz Saati, an acclaimed photographer and cinematographer of Iranian cinema. He gave a presentation on Iranian cinema, cinema photography, and the Iranian Cinema Museum, as well as his collaborations with directors such as Bahram Beyzaei, Ali Hatami, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, and Masoud Kimiaei. At the end of the program, he answered audience questions. The host of the program was Mahmoud Reza Pirouzian.

Concert “Whisper” – February 8, 2025

Master Ali Akbar Moradi, a renowned tanbur player, performed alongside Pejman Hadadi (a master of percussion instruments) in a beautiful and unforgettable program for fans of Kurdish Iranian music. The concert took place at the Conrad Prebys Concert Hall at the University of California, San Diego. This event was hosted at the invitation of the UCSD Music Department and in collaboration with Persian Cultural Center and the Association of Iranian American Professionals.

A Poet and A Poem – February 19, 2025

The 37th session of “A Poet and a Poem” took place on February 19. This virtual Zoom session featured the biography and poems of Adib Saber Tarmazi, and was presented by the Poetry and Literature group of San Diego, along with young students from ISSD (Hajar Sattarzadeh, Mana Ajideh, and Ryan Sharafi).

Marjan Farsad Concert – February 22, 2025

On the evening of Saturday, February 22, the Persian Cultural Center hosted the beloved artist Marjan Farsad and her band, who delivered an unforgettable performance for their fans at the Westview High School Amphitheater. Tickets for the concert sold out weeks in advance. In this performance, renowned artist Shervin Najafian played guitar, accompanied by Yahya Alkhansa, Makan Taghavi, and Pouya Mehrabi. The performance of the songs, along with animated visuals designed by Marjan herself, added a multidimensional atmosphere to the concert.

Film and Discussion – February 28, 2025

For the February Film and Discussion program, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the documentary film The Football Aficionado, directed by Shermin Mojtahedzadeh and Paliz Khoshdel, was screened. This meeting was held at the Iranian American Center, moderated by Mahmoud Reza Pirouzian, and included a Q&A session.

PCC Youth Committee

The PCC Youth Committee participated in the 23rd Annual Father Joe’s Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K. The Father Joe’s initiative successfully raised $450,000, with the PCC Youth Committee contributing approximately $500 through 11 registered participants. Additionally, the PCC Youth Committee held a bake sale at ISSD, raising a total of $80. Please stay tuned for upcoming events and activities by following the PCC weekly newsletter.
