Persian Cultural Center\u2019s board of directors holds its meetings every second Wednesday of the month. The last two meetings took place via Zoom, on January 12 and February 9, 2022.<\/p>\n

\"\"Mehregan Concert \u2013 December 30, 2021<\/b><\/p>\n

The video of the Mehregan concert with Aida Shahghasemi was launched on YouTube on December 30. This event was held on October 2, 2021, in the San Diego Museum of Art\u2019s Sculpture Garden. Visit Persian Cultural Center of San Diego\u2019s YouTube channel.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Electric \u00dbd Trio Concert \u2013 January 16, 2022\"\"<\/b><\/p>\n

Electric \u00dbd Trio concert performed by Angelica Pruitt on\u00a0contrabass, Koosha Hakimi on\u00a0drums, and Farhad Bahrami on electric\u00a0\u00dbd was held on January 16 at PCC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quarantine Night\u2019s Poems \u2013 January 19, 2022<\/b><\/p>\n

In this virtual event hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC\u2019s Poetry & Literature Committee, poems by Roodaki, <\/i>father of Persian poetry, were recited. The attendees then participated by reciting their own selected poems.<\/span><\/p>\n

Virtual Movie Discussion Series \u2013 January 27, 2022\"\"<\/b><\/p>\n

The Trial of The Chicago 7<\/i>\u00a0(2020), directed by Aaron Sorkin and starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, and Eddie Redmayne, was the selected movie for the January virtual movie discussion. Mahmoud Pirouzian hosted the discussion. The guest of the program was Dr. Mohammad Pooya, a physician and actor who reviewed the movie.<\/p>\n

Quarantine Night\u2019s Poems \u2013 February 16, 2022<\/b><\/p>\n

In this virtual event hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC\u2019s Poetry & Literature Committee, poems from Rabe-eh Balkhi\u00a0 <\/span><\/i>were read and attendees also read their own selected poetry.\"\"<\/p>\n

Virtual Movie Discussion Series \u2013 February 24, 2022<\/b><\/p>\n

The selected movie for the month of February was Antonia\u2019s Line<\/i> (1995), directed by Marleen Gorris and staring\u00a0Willeke van Ammelrooy, Els Dottermans, Jan Decleir, and Veerle van Overloop. The guest of the program was Mahmoud Behroozian, theater and cinema actor who reviewed the movie.<\/p>\n

The PCC Youth Committee Report<\/b><\/p>\n

Current Activities:<\/b><\/p>\n

1- The PCC Youth Committee hosted its fourth food and toy drive in November 2021.\u00a0The committee collected 324 pounds of food and $50 cash. The food was donated to the San Diego Food Bank and the toys were distributed to Iranian families in need and children at St. Vincent de Paul.\"\"<\/p>\n

2- Committee members are continuing to provide free remote tutoring to people of all ages for a variety of subjects and are helping many students in school.<\/p>\n

3- Committee members are also volunteering at the Iranian School of San Diego as teacher assistants.<\/p>\n

Future Activities:<\/b><\/p>\n

1- Volunteering with other non-profit organizations (i.e., San Diego Food Bank, Father Joe\u2019s Village, assisting Afghani refugees in San Diego County, etc.)<\/p>\n

2- Monthly hike<\/p>\n

3- Food and toy drive<\/p>\n

4- Talent show<\/p>\n

5- Active role in high school Persian Clubs (promoting culture at schools)<\/p>\n

PCC\u2019s Charity Committee<\/b><\/p>\n

The Charity Committee is currently helping two Iranian refugee families. The first family (husband, wife, and a nine-year-old child) requires legal help, health care, and living accommodations. We hired an attorney to assist them with their legal needs. A very kind member of our community has generously offered them temporary housing, food, and accommodations until mid-March. They will need more permanent housing after March 15. We are collaborating with AIAP and Dollar a Month Fund (DMF) for this project.<\/p>\n

The second family (husband, wife, and a four-year-old child) stays at a special facility with no access to the outside world. The child needs special medical attention. We are collaborating with DMF to provide for the child\u2019s medical needs.\u00a0The family must have a sponsor to provide housing and some financial support. They are also in need of legal representation.<\/p>\n

PCC Board of Directors and its Charity Committee members have always appreciated your support. We hope that together we will also help these two families. To help, please contact the PCC office at (619) 552-9355.<\/p>\n
