ISSD Alumni Corner<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Iranian School of San Diego boasts a significant history, having been in operation since 1988, and has positively impacted numerous students and families over the years. The school takes pride in its extensive alumni network, consisting of successful individuals who have made notable contributions to both the Iranian American and global communities. Many alumni now have children enrolled at ISSD, establishing a strong multi-generational bond with the school. In an effort to showcase these accomplishments and underline the value of ISSD, Peyk<\/i> is highlighting profiles detailing the lives and experiences of the school’s graduates. We are reaching out to select ISSD alumni with a series of questions to not only check on their well-being but also to introduce them to current students and parents. These alumni could potentially serve as significant role models for the present and upcoming student body.<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

During which years did you attend ISSD, and for how long?<\/b>
I attended ISSD during my formative years, and though it feels like yesterday, it was truly a chapter that spanned many meaningful seasons of my childhood. I started in 2005 and then upon graduating, I was a teaching assistant for at least 2-3 years. Those years shaped so much of who I am today, both personally and culturally.<\/p>\n

Can you share any fond memories or amusing anecdotes from your time at ISSD?<\/b>
One memory that always brings a smile to my face is surprising my long-time Iranian dance teacher, Mrs. Ayari, with a special performance. I poured my heart into the dance, hoping to honor her influence and express my gratitude. Seeing her reaction\u2014it was a moment of joy and connection that I\u2019ll treasure forever.<\/p>\n

Are you still in contact with fellow students, teachers, or staff from ISSD?<\/b>
Yes, I\u2019m fortunate to have maintained relationships with some of the students, teachers, and staff. The bonds we formed at ISSD have only deepened over the years as we\u2019ve celebrated milestones and supported one another, keeping our shared cultural ties alive.<\/p>\n

In what ways has your education at ISSD influenced your relationship with your extended family and cultural heritage?<\/b>
ISSD gave me the gift of language and cultural understanding, which created a bridge to my extended family in Iran. Before my grandparents passed, I was able to FaceTime them weekly and share meaningful conversations in Farsi. When I visited them in Shiraz, our connection felt effortless and genuine because of the foundation ISSD provided. Those memories are priceless, and I will forever be grateful for them.<\/p>\n

What are your current endeavors in terms of career, family life, and volunteering?<\/b>
As a cancer survivor, I\u2019ve dedicated my life to giving back and making a difference for others facing similar battles. Currently, I\u2019m focused on fundraising for cancer patients and their families, and I\u2019ve had the honor of raising millions of dollars by the age of 25. Being able to turn my own challenges into a source of hope and support for others is incredibly fulfilling. I also volunteer with Make-A-Wish, where I grant wishes and create moments of joy and possibility for children facing critical illnesses. These endeavors are my way of honoring my journey and paying it forward.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are your aspirations for the future of ISSD, and what advice would you offer to families with children at ISSD or considering enrollment in the future?<\/b>
I hope ISSD continues to grow and flourish, inspiring Persian and multicultural families to embrace the beauty and importance of carrying forward the Persian and Farsi legacy. To families, I would say this: enrolling your children at ISSD is a gift that will impact their lives far beyond the classroom. It will deepen their connection to their roots, open doors to meaningful relationships, and nurture a profound love for Persian culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anything else you want to add?<\/b>
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Sadr and all the incredible teachers and staff who dedicate themselves to this mission. You\u2019ve created a place where our culture and heritage thrive, and I\u2019ll always be grateful for the role ISSD played in my life.<\/span><\/p>\n
