Caravan Electric Ud Trio held a concert titled \u201cAngelica\u2019s Project,\u201d performed by Angelica Pruitt on\u00a0contrabass, Nathan Hubbard on\u00a0drums, and Farhad Bahrami on\u00a0electric\u00a0ud, with special guest\u00a0Tamia Dowlatabadi.<\/p>\n
In this virtual event hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC\u2019s Poetry & Literature Committee, poems from Shahriar<\/i> were read and attendees also read their own selected poetry.<\/p>\n

Jong is PCC\u2019s cultural variety show. The July Jong was an online event about Iranian cinema, hosted by Ali Sadr. The guest of the program was Mohammad Motavasselani, renowned film actor and director. A question and answer period followed the discussion.<\/p>\n

La Haine – Hate<\/i>\u00a0(1995), directed by Mathieu Kassovitz<\/span>, and starring Vincent Cassel, Hubert Kound\u00e9, and Sa\u00efd Taghmaoui, was <\/span>the movie selected for the September virtual movie discussion. Mahmoud Pirouzian hosted the discussion, during which Ms. <\/span>Rana Salami <\/span>reviewed the movie.<\/p>\n The fifth annual joint celebration of Mehregan with San Diego Museum of Art took place at the museum\u2019s Sculpture Garden on Saturday, October 2, 2021. All proceeds from this event were allocated in support of the Iranian Arts section of the museum. Supporters and guests first visited the Iranian Art section with new additions and then assembled at the Sculpture Garden to enjoy a concert by Aida Shahghasemi and her band.\u00a0 <\/span>A complete report of this event is on page 8 of this issue.<\/p>\n Two comedy plays\u2014Waking Up <\/b>& Sleep<\/b>\u2014written by Franka Rama, Mahmoud Behrouzian, and Mahvash Azhir, and directed by Mahmoud Behrouzian, were staged at the Iranian American Center on October 9, 17, 23, and 24. The cast included Tawoos Moshtagh, <\/span>Dadyar Vakili, and Masih Sal Afzon.<\/p>\n Three Chefs in the Kitchen<\/i>, PCC\u2019s online cooking class,\u00a0<\/i>was held on October 19, 2021. The three chefs\u2014Sima Kashani, Zhaleh Shayan, and Venus Safaie\u2014taught viewers how to prepare Eggplant, Whey, and Carrot Koofteh (meatball)<\/span>.<\/p>\n K-Von, the Iranian American comedian, performed on Thursday, October 14 at the Iranian American Center. He also presented his book and signed copies for his fans.<\/p>\n This virtual event was hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC\u2019s Poetry & Literature Committee. From the series \u201cOne poet \u2013 One poem,\u201d Shahriar and the poem \u201cHeydar baba\u201d were discussed.\u00a0 <\/span>Attendees also read their own selected poetry.<\/p>\n The movie selected for October\u2019s discussion series was Y Tu Mam\u00e1 Tambi\u00e9n<\/i> (And Your Mother Too) (2001), <\/b>directed by\u00a0Alfonso Cuar\u00f3n and starring\u00a0Maribel Verd\u00fa, Gael Garc\u00eda Bernal, and Diego Luna.
