Reza Majd

1930-2024

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Reza Majd, who peacefully left this world on November 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a man whose life embodied an unwavering commitment to education, justice, integrity, and family.

Born in Mahallat, Iran, he was the eldest of 6 children. After his father, Mahmoud, unexpectedly passed away, he stepped into the male head-of-the-household role, became a father figure to his siblings, and helped raise them alongside his mother, Olea. He was a pillar of strength, shouldering responsibilities far beyond his years.

Despite these early challenges, Reza remained steadfast in his ambition to pursue higher education. Growing up in a town without secondary schools, he traveled great distances to further his studies. His determination paid off when he was accepted into the University of Tehran. There, he balanced his studies while simultaneously teaching high school, driven by a passion to inspire the next generation to pursue lifelong learning. His belief in the transformative power of education was at the core of his identity.

He graduated with a degree in law and literature, and went on to serve as a respected judge. He later dedicated 12 years as a member of Parliament, where he proudly represented his beloved city of Mahallat. After the Revolution, he made the difficult decision to relocate his family to the United States in search of a better future for his children.

Beyond his career, Reza had a deep appreciation for Persian language and literature, poetry, calligraphy, history, and philosophy. But his greatest passion was always his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy, wisdom, and love will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.

Reza is survived by his devoted wife, Parvaneh Khosrovani, and his 4 daughters, Mojgan, Marjan, Maryam, and Sanaz, who will forever cherish his memory.

We loved him so deeply and will miss him so dearly. Rest in peace, our beautiful Baba Joon. Your spirit will live on in all of us.
