PCC’s Board Meetings
Persian Cultural Center’s board of directors holds its meetings on every second Wednesday of the month virtually, via Zoom. The last two meetings took place on July 12 and August 9, 2023.
A Poet and A Poem—July 19, 2023
In this virtual event hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC’s Poetry & Literature Committee, the biography and poems of “Khajeh Abdollah Ansari” were presented by the Poetry & Literature Group of San Diego. Poems were also recited by a young student from the Iranian School of San Diego (ISSD) and poems were recited by other attendees.
Film & Discussion Series—July 27, 2023
The Film & Discussion series for July was devoted to Don’t Look Now (1973), directed by Nicolas Roeg. Guest speaker Ms. Firoozeh Khatibi (playwright, actor, journalist, and radio host) reviewed the movie and answered attendees’ questions. The program host and moderator was Mahmoud Reza Pirouzian.

In observance of summer break, this month’s session was postponed until September.
Film & Discussion Series—100th Program – August 26, 2023
The August program was the 100th meeting of its kind—including a discussion, Q&A, contest, and light reception. Guest speakers included Mahmoud Behrouzian, Fardin Saheb Zamani, and Rana Salimi. A complete report will be in the next issue of Peyk.
PCC’s Youth Committee—Summer 2023
The Youth Committee currently has 27 members, including 6 young people who joined this year. The Committee held its first post-COVID Family Night on Friday, July 14. It was a very fun time, and everyone enjoyed the company, food, games, and dance. The Committee also hosted two volleyball days at Westview High School. And there was a fun-filled beach day on Wednesday, August 2, with beach volleyball and other activities.
The Youth Committee is working on a college event for high school students, most likely sometime in late September. Members are also looking into fundraising events in collaboration with several restaurants.
