PCC’s Board of Directors Meetings

The meetings of the Board of Directors were held on July 9 and August 13 to discuss and plan the activities of the Persian Cultural Center.

A Poet and a Poem – July 16, 2025

The forty-first session of “A Poet and a Poem” took place on July 16. This virtual session featured the biography and poems of “Majd Hamgar,” presented by the Poetry and Literature Group of San Diego, featuring Farshad Babakhani, Fariba Babakhani, and Sepideh Shamloufard. Other poems were also recited by the attendees of the event.

A Poet and a Poem – August 20, 2025

The “A Poet and A Poem” session was not held in August in observance of the summer break.

Film and Discussion Program – August 23, 2025

The special program for the Film and Discussion session in August was dedicated to the screening of the film Sea Boys, directed by Mr. Afshin Hashemi. Sea Boys was recognized as the best film at the 40th Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth. The film was screened in the presence of the director at the Iranian American Center in San Diego. In the second part, Mahmoud Reza Piroozian discussed the film with the director and the session continued with an audience Q&A.

Youth Committee

The PCC Youth Committee held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 17, at the Iranian American Center. At this meeting, members elected the new Executive Board for the coming year:

• Vice Presidents: Artin Parviz & Ayden Pargol
• Secretaries: Sherin Shirzad & Ryan Sedighi
• Treasurer: Rasam Saadzadeh
• Reporter: Nava Taghavi

The committee also celebrated and honored its youth members who have completed their academic programs and are preparing to begin the next exciting chapter of their lives. Following the elections and recognition, members discussed and planned upcoming activities for the months ahead as follows: Annual San Diego Beach Cleanup; Family Fun Night, an evening of friendship, games, and laughter at the Center; November Food Drive, collecting donations for those in need; Senior Home Visit, sharing time and joy with our elders; Thanksgiving Day Walk with Father Joe’s Village, supporting the homeless, with all proceeds donated to Father Joe’s; and Children’s Story Hour, reading sessions to inspire young minds. Exact dates and details will be shared via PCC email updates and social media channels.
