PCC’s Board Meetings
Persian Cultural Center’s board of directors holds its meetings every second Wednesday of the month. The last two meetings took place on September 14 and October 12, 2022.
Commemorating Amir Houshang Ebtehaj (H. A. Sayeh) – September 17, 2022
To commemorate Sayeh, the renowned poet of Iran who recently passed away, this program was jointly prepared and presented by PCC and the Association of Iranian American Professionals (AIAP). The Iranian American Center was packed with poetry lovers and culture enthusiasts. Many people also joined the event by Zoom. The program started with Ali Sadr’s opening remarks and continued with Dr. Zaker reciting some of Sayeh’s poems. The main speaker was Dr. Ahmad Karimi Hakkak, emeritus professor of Persian literature at the University of Maryland and UCLA. The program continued with music of the Namad Ensemble – Kourosh Taghavi, Saeid Kamjoo, and Hrsam Abedini. The video of this program is available on the PCC YouTube channel. This event was dedicated to Mahsa Amini and her family.
A Poet and a Poem – September 21, 2022
In this virtual event hosted by Farshad Babakhani and PCC’s Poetry & Literature Committee, poems from Naser Khosrow were read and attendees also read their own selected poetry.
Virtual Movie Discussion Series – September 29, 2022
Gett: The Trial of Vivian Amsalem (2014), directed by Ronit Elkabtz and Shlomi Elkabetz and starring Ronit Elkabtz, Menashe Noy, and Simor Abkaian, was the selected movie for the September virtual movie discussion. Mahmoud Pirouzian hosted the discussion. Tania Ahmadi of Columbia University and the film critic of Peyk reviewed the movie.
Persian Fall Festival “Mehregan” – October 8, 2022
The sixth annual joint celebration of Mehregan with San Diego Museum of Art took place at the museum’s auditorium on Saturday, October 8, 2022. All proceeds from this event were allocated in support of the Iranian Arts section of the museum. Supporters and guests first visited the Iranian Arts section with new additions and then assembled at the auditorium to enjoy a concert by Afra Ensemble.

The Art of Improvisation – October 22, 2022
This program took place at the Conrad Prebys Concert Hall of UCSD in collaboration with the Department of Music of UCSD and supported by Chehreh-Azad Endowment Funds in Arts. Shahrokh Moshkin-Ghalam, Pejman Haddadi, and Behfar Bahador performed beautiful improvised pieces for the audience.
Virtual Movie Discussion Series – October 27, 2022
Time (2020), directed by Garret Bradley, and with a cast of Fox Rich, Rob Rich II, Rob G. Rich, and Laurance M. Rich, was the selected movie for the October virtual movie and discussion. Mahmoud Reza Pirouzian hosted the program. Brian Hu, SDSU Assistant Professor in Television and Film, reviewed the movie.
