Halloween

On Sunday October 31, 2021, most of students and teachers came to school with colorful costumes. During the last recess they all got together and took pictures.

Yalda Celebration

Celebrating Yalda is one of the oldest traditions in Iran and many other cultures in the region. Yalda is the first night of winter and corresponds with the Winter Solstice.

Yalda is the longest night of the year, and from that day forward, the nights get shorter and the days longer. Yalda means the birthday or rebirth of the sun.

Yalda is based on the ancient Iranian belief of light vs. dark, good vs. evil. Since the days start getting longer and the nights shorter, this day marks the victory of light over dark, and good over evil.

At School:

Due to the limitations caused by the pandemic, this year, the students and volunteers of each classroom had set up their own Yalda table. The students and teachers sat around the table and symbolically recited poetry and read stories and ate “Ajil” and fruits.
